Come see the new race dories, support CDRA!

Rowers compete in the International Dory Races on Lunenburg harbour
This Saturday, June 7 marks the 261st anniversary of the founding of Lunenburg. To celebrate, The Dory Shop will be hosting an Open House and barbecue in support of the Canadian Dory Racing Association.

Drop by between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to see the new race boats we are building and support the New Dories for Canada fundraising campaign by purchasing a dog or burger from the CDRA chefs. Tickets on the club’s ATV draw will also be available.

Then at 1 p.m., be on hand to cheer teams from the Towns of Lunenburg, Mahone Bay, Bridgewater and the Municipality of the District of Chester as they take part in an all-for-fun dory challenge. The race is slated to start off the end of the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic’s easternmost wharf.

Speaking of the Fisheries Museum, the folks there have lots of special events planned including demonstrations of rug hooking and spinning, children’s crafts and games, book signings and musical entertainment. And admission will be free both Saturday and Sunday!

The Knaut-Rhuland Heritage House Museum will also hold an Open House on Saturday and Musique Royale is hosting one of its popular Cookie Concerts: Music for All Ages, featuring folklorist and performer Clary Croft at St. John’s Church at 2 p.m.

So be sure to head into the ‘Burg this weekend for lots of fun activities for the whole family. And don’t forget to stop by The Dory Shop for lunch!
